"It was many and many a year ago, in a kingdom by the sea. That a maiden there lived whom you may know, by the name of Annabel Lee". Based on the poem 'Annabel Lee' by Edgar Allan Poe and set in the aftermath of the war under the long, lingering shadow of the Irish-Anglo conflict, 'Annabel Lee' is a tale of forbidden love between two young stowaways from opposite sides of the Irish Sea. As the couple run for their lives, they make it as far as a cottage in Devon awaiting rescue to take them to France. With the end of their journey in sight, they finally allow themselves to believe they have made it. However, E and Annabel begin to see signs all is not as it seems. Is this the work of malevolent spirits? Annabel's dangerous family ties? Or simply the misgivings of traumatized minds? With limited time on their hands, the two must make a decision before it is too late.
